"The Salcombe" (formerly the Salcombe hotel) is situated in the centre of town with about 350ft of estuary frontage. This development of apartments has various communal facilities for guests including: gardens and outdoor heated swimming pool (Spring Bank Holiday to end September).

There is a lift (from ground floor to 3rd & 4th floors only), communal laundry facilities, pay phone in lobby (incoming and outgoing calls), parking for one car per apartment, one mooring per apartment on private pontoon for dinghy, with overall length (including outboard) of 5m. There is also a restaurant within the building.

This prestigious penthouse apartment commanding spectacular 180 degree views up and down the estuary, has recently been refurbished and finished and equipped to a very high standard. The property has central heating, and benefits from a parking space, mooring and use of the swimming pool/children’s pool and garden. NB: Pool open 08:00-20:00, is unattended, guests are responsible for the safety of themselves and their children.

Access to Apartment: Take the lift or stairs to the 4th floor. Corridor, short steps to entrance door and hallway.

Regret no children under 8. The shared grounds/public area around Salcombe Apartments has a low wall of 60cm therefore children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

A haven for yachties and those who prefer to keep their deck shoes firmly on dry land, Salcombe is popular with people of all ages and delivers beautiful golden sand beaches, sparkling blue seas, wonderful walks in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the estuary is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a nature reserve.

Beach Activities

With its vibrant summer life Salcombe is a bustling happy town. Sailing boats pepper the water and families enjoy the many beautiful sandy beaches that can be reached by a short walk or a ferry ride across the busy harbour. A number of the beaches have access to beach activities including paddle boarding and water sports.

  • North Sands beach (Accessible by car (TQ8 8LD) or walking from Salcombe town (15 minute walk along the coast; simply keep the sea to your left when walking out of town.
  • South Sands beach (Accessible by ferry, car (with limited parking, TQ8 8LL) or walking from Salcombe town (25-30 minutes).
  • Mill Bay, Smalls, Fisherman's Cove (Accessible by passenger ferry – jump onto the Salcombe to East Portlemouth passenger ferry).

The Salcombe estuary is a sailor's dream. Whatever your ability, there are a number of companies in Salcombe equipt to provide you with your perfect day on the water.
